SUMMER AVIATION ACADEMY
Our newest program is the Summer Aviation Academy. We enroll
half a dozen or so students who spend an entire week, 9 to 5, flying
aircraft and acquiring aeronautical knowledge in ground school. The
schedule looks like this:
              9am-1pm  flying
              1pm-2pm  lunch
              2pm-4pm  groundschool

The academy does not require students to live in a certain
geography or be in a specific economic category like our
scholarship program does. However, students must be in junior high
school or high school to enroll. They need to arrange their own
transportation to Lake Village Airport.

All Academy costs are covered by the Foundation. Lunch is also
included everyday. Students spend the majority of their day flying
gliders with the soaring club,
Park Forest South Aviation Group.
Students also build time in single-engine airplanes. All flights are
logged in the student's log book.

Often, successful graduates from the Academy are awarded
scholarships to continue their flight lessons toward private pilot
certification.
